Oops - another (kind) of craft

I forgot to add this to my Christmas crafty page.
I put this together for a gift exchange and loved it so much I almost kept it!

Little sleepless vacation!

AS a Christmas bonus, QED (Brett's work) decided to take everyone to the Zermatt Resort in Midway for a little getaway!
Brett and I talked about going and discussed how we would feel leaving Afton overnight. Up until now we hadn't left her for more than a few hours and we (I) was a little worried.
We decided to go for it and here are a few photos!

The complimentary 8 by 10 photo! The photographer said the girls should be happy because he 'airbrushed' all the photos. I am so grateful for the beautiful orange glow!

The white elephant gifts moved quickly this year (thank goodness)! Brett got these great napkins with the napkin holder included and I got this super t-shirt with ladies doing ? on it. The guy who brought it was pretty proud!

 

During the night my sister (who was sleeping at my house with her two boys) kept texting me letting me know everything was OK. She said Afton didn't even miss us which was a little bitter sweet.

So, obviously everything was fine (as I knew it would be) but Melis was nice to keep in touch.

After dinner Brett and I went swimming with his brother (who also works at QED) and my sister in law Tiff. Tiff and I stayed in the hot tub almost the entire time while the boys braved the outside pool! Brrrrrr!

After swimming we went back to our room...

And I couldn't sleep!

I was excited when it was finally time to wake Brett and go home!

We grabbed a muffin and some hot chocolate for the drive and finished our little getaway chatting and enjoying the scenery!

My obsession!

I saw this at Robert's a while ago and loved it.
Even with my coupon I didn't want to spend
the money because as you all know - I don't have
a job. Brett thinks I am silly to worry but I
felt bad buying something I didn't really need.
So...every time I went to Robert's I saw it and
thought I would come back when I had a couple
of bucks to blow. Well, the day came and I went
and they were OUT!
The gal at the desk called a few stores and said
no one else even got them in this year.
I went home and looked on the internet because
by now I REALLY wanted it.
I couldn't find it on the internet so I called Robert's
the next day to ask where they bought it and the girl
said she would call me back. She called back a couple
of days later saying she FOUND ONE! It was in Provo
and SHE would go and pick it up!
I can't tell you how excited I was. It made my day!
How can something so little and silly make someone
so bummed and so happy? I am such a dork.
By the time I went to get it I had a 60% off coupon so
it worked out even better.
Yeah to my (persistence) (obsessive behavior)?
Was it even worth it?

Afton's one year photos!

I know these are a little (super) late but oh well. I've been busy!
Brett and I weren't sure if we wanted to get professional one year photos done but I am glad we did.
It actually took two separate visits because Afton melted down during the first one. As we were waiting for the people before us to finish Afton pooped and it wasn't until then we realized we had NO wipes in the diaper bag.
Ok - no big deal. Brett went to change Afton and realized we also had NO DIAPERS in the diaper bag. What kind of mom am I?
Luckily we were in a department store so I ran and bought diapers and wipes. By the time this was all done Afton had a diaper rash and it was 7:00 at night. She wasn't herself after that so we finally left but not before getting some of the meltdown on camera.
The second time around we had a better experience. I stocked the diaper bag, we went in the morning and luckily we didn't have to wait for anyone else to finish.

Color Book

When I saw this idea I knew I had to make one
for Afton. I had so much fun going through pictures
and searching for colors! The book is tiny enough
to carry around in the diaper bag and the lamination
makes it washable! I love it and so does Afton!

Strawberry River

Name blocks

I have been wanting to make something using Afton's name
for a while now. I was going to (and still might) use big
wooden letters but I wanted something small and I also
wanted something Afton would play with!

So... I made these blocks. Afton LOVES them and I actually
had fun making them!

Happy Halloween

Afton is the cutest little witch I've ever seen. She loved the pumpkins and even left her hat on for a few shots. Her little tutu was made by Grandma Watrous and has little bats and cats on it. Too cute!

 

 

 

Brett and I were pirates this year. Instead of a parrot we had a little chicken!

Afton LOVES the refrigerator! Every time it opens she comes running! She loves to take things out and climb inside.

Afton turns one!

Afton is one! I can't believe I have a toddler! Afton's birthday was on the 8th of October but her party was on the 10th. Here are a few pictures from her birthday party. We went to a park in Lehi and had lunch, cake and ice cream. All of the grandparents came along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and even a great grandma. The weather was beautiful and Afton's birthday balloons were blowing in the breeze. Everyone spent time eating, talking, throwing a football, and playing on the playground.

Afton didn't want anything to do with her birthday cake and when everyone sang Happy Birthday she started to cry! Other than that she was happy and completely content to walk around with Grandma Watrous and play on the playground! Afton was exhausted when we got home!

Afton's actual birthday was awful - she and I celebrated by throwing up all day! Luckily the party wasn't planned until that weekend! Poor kid!

Afton received many wonderful gifts from friends and family!
Car seat, baby doll with a bed and a blanket, musical clock, jacket and hat, onesie and dress, hat and gloves, musical stacker, cloth tea set, musical-talking phone, books, levi's and a hoodie, Mr. potato head, a cute shirt, shorts and a t-shirt, and a wooden alphabet set!

We are so grateful for friends and family and we appreciate everyone celebrating this wonderful day with us!
