Afton's 5th birthday

Afton's always excited about everything but this year she was really excited about her birthday. She decided on a blue bird party the day after her birthday last year and she's been planning ever since...

Traditional pancake breakfast with little bird pancakes!

Waiting for everyone to come to the party. It was 9:30 and the party started at 12:30. Long wait....

Afton had so many ideas for food and decorations. I just helped out.

Bird masks

Cheerio bird feeder necklaces

Pass the egg with the spoon game.

Blue popcorn

Gummy worm favors

Lots of thoughtful gifts.

Afton's 5th birthday party with friends

Afton is such a good party planner and her birthday was the perfect excuse to plan something great! A blue and yellow bird party was what she'd had in mind for months!!

She had a few friends over to celebrate!

The cake - yellow frosting with blue sprinkles. Yellow and blue bunting with blue paper birds on each end..

The bird masks in varying shades of white, blue and yellow...

Cheerio birdfeeder necklaes...

Gummy worm favors with a blue or yellow birdie attached to each one...

Of course a glittery, sparkly #5 for my birthday girl along with a fun blue banner and her name in
glitter paper...

A little bluebird from Grandma Sandy along with some birdie crackers...

Afton's bird outfit

Can I just start by saying my mom is AMAZING!!! You only have to mention an idea and she'll make it come to life! As soon as Afton knew she wanted a bird birthday (which was the day after her last bday) Grandma Sandy went to work on her wings.

They are BEAUTIFUL! I want some...

Thank you Mom!

Baby birds

We usually have so many birds in our yard but this year we haven't seen quite as many. It might be because of the cat(s) that have been coming into the yard and pooping in our sandbox!! Darn things.

We had 3 baby robins in the front yard. We watched them and watched them and one day came outside to find 2 of them dead on the ground. It looked as if they'd been mauled. 1 baby was still in the tree and we found it in the garden a few days later.

Any ideas on how to keep cats out of the yard???

Fat quail!

We love having so many birds in our backyard. Each year we have a plethora of nests, each belonging to a different bird and in the winter we scatter birdseed and put out bird feeders. We couldn't believe our eyes today when these quail came into the yard.

They were so fat!!

There were quite a few and they were under the brush, on the rocks, even in the tree trying to get closer to the feeder! It was a lot of fun!
