Early flowers and the kiddos

Brett really loves this yard and he should. He's put so much time and energy into every little plant, flower, bush and tree. This space/hobby has brought him a lot of peace over the years and I'd rather have him spend time gardening than doing just about anything else. Afton loves working with him and Maya loves it outside too!!

We don't have many spring flowers but right about now (beginning of June) we start to see some color.

Before we had kids Brett and I knew the names of every flower, ground cover, bush and we knew when it bloomed, what it would look like, where we got it, etc. Now I know when my kids are hungry, need to sleep or are feeling overwhelmed. It's funny how that changed. Brett can still give a good yard tour but I've given up! I'll just enjoy!

Poor baby girl has been sick for 2 weeks. She started out stuffy with a little cough, fever and I took her in for her 6 month well child only to find out she had an ear (right) infection. The nurse administered shots and sent me off with a prescription for an antibiotic. Halfway into her antibiotics I thought she was feeling better and took her swimming. The next day she woke up with a barking cough, runny nose and was even more clingy than before. It is so sad having a sick child but it's a good reminder to be grateful that she isn't really sick. This will go away, she will be okay. But still, her sad eyes, cough and runny nose make me sad!

Thank goodness she still has some smiles!

She's also found her toes recently which has given her plenty of entertainment!

She also loves daddy's hat. Whether it's his sun hat or baseball cap, she loves it!

Blake and Afton hiding in their jungle cabin!

Afton wanted to plant something of her own so Brett took her to the nursery and she chose these pretty pink flowers!

Valentine's Day

We sure love Valentine's Day around here but this year Afton was old enough to really love it. She started decorating the front room just after New Year's. She started cutting out hearts to hang up and drawing pictures to tape on the walls and pretty soon every wall, plant, and door was decorated. Grandma Sandy is always good about helping with paper and stickers and every Wednesday when Afton came home from gymnastics she had more fun stuff!

With the excitement of this holiday approaching and Afton's confinement due to baby girl I finally agreed to let her have a party. I told her she could invite 3 friends and she was in charge of planning. She was so excited!!

She planned and planned and planned....

She invited Brooklyn, Annie, and, Savannah

The itinerary -
1. Crowns
2. Bingo
3. Cookies
4. Heart toss
5. Animals

Our practice crown

The girls laughed so hard playing this game. Each girl had a different colored piece of paper and they took turns trying to throw it into the heart. It was fun to watch! Lots of giggles!!

Afton's decor. She worked so hard on the decorations!

My sweet Mom came over to help in case Maya woke up (which she didn't) and as always she took some amazing pictures! Thanks Mom!!

Baby shower

I was so lucky to have a baby shower and so thankful for my great friends who put it together! I felt so loved and know this baby is already so loved. We loaded up on diapers and received so many thoughtful, wonderful gifts.

The food was delicious (I couldn't eat much because of my diabetes) but it looked really good, the decorations were so cute and many friends and family came!

Afton had so much fun. She acted as if the shower was for her. She opened all the presents, loved putting little favor bags together for people and really loved the yummy treats!

Thanks to my friend Jess who took these fun pictures!

By the end of the night I couldn't help myself with these pretzel bites. I finally ate a couple and boy were they delicious!
The girls had a basket of diapers along with markers to leave messages for me or Brett... very cute!
Mindy and Becky - what would I do without these two??? Love my face in the back. Boy am I happy!
Crystal is the best. She is my amazing visiting teacher and has worked with me in Beehives. She also made me the most delicious peanut butter cookies to eat during my diabetic pregnancy!

Ranae, Ashley, Abby and Mindy are all amazing and supportive friends and I was so glad they came!

 Seriously love these two!
My sweet mom came for a bit as well as Grandma Karen and Tiff! So grateful for a supportive family!

 Lisa and Candi
 Belly shot
Julie and Jill - those smiles just make me happy!
Diana and Mary have been so good to me. Diana has been Aftons' primary teacher and Mary is my amazing visiting teacher!
Jessica and Lisa are wonderful. Jess took these great pictures and is a great friend. Lisa and I have worked together in YW and I hope to still see her!
Liz is my amazing visiting teaching partner (I am not a good partner) and her daughter Abby is one of my sweet Beehives.

Afton was so excited to have so many diapers and proceeded to organize and rearrange throughout the day!
