Backyard campout

Afton loves fires, s'mores and anything resembling a tent so we figured it'd be fun to create a little camp out in the yard!

Brett and Afton set up the tent in the backyard and the girls had so much fun playing on the air mattress. Once that was ready we made a fire and Afton worked on a little craft while we waited for it to die down a little.

S'mores were next and it didn't take long to realize we didn't have any sticks. Oops We ended up using shishkabob sticks which weren't ideal but oh well. Afton picked out the biggest marshmallows we could find at the store and I think she ate a few before the fire was even ready. Once it came time to roast marshmallows she would give them to me and Daddy!

Huge marshmallows!

Maya was getting a kick out of watching the fire, she kept smiling and smiling!

Baby girl might be ready for a s'more!

Fairy Festival

This year we decided to go to the Fairy festival at Thanksgiving Point. It was a last minute decision so we didn't get to see everything but I'm pretty sure we saw enough!

Walking through the beautiful gardens is one of our favorite things to do and as we came around the corner leading to most of the activities Afton couldn't believe her eyes. Elsa and Ana! Wow

After getting a picture we headed straight to the face painting. While I stood in line Afton was drawn to the bubbles, especially since the nice gal offered her a bubble shooter to play with. She laughed and laughed and wanted to buy one ($12) but that wasn't going to happen.

After getting a rainbow on her face she got a little bottle of 'Fairy Dust'. The cute girls at the booth helped her write down a wish to place inside. She wished for rainbows... Who doesn't?

Maya is generally so calm and today was no different. She lounged in her stroller, let daddy carry her around a bit and just took it all in!

Afton was excited to decorate her own cupcake and wasn't too concerned about details. She just globbed that frosting right on there.

Father's Day 2014

This year for Father's Day we decided to go for a hike. We wanted to hike to a waterfall in Pleasant Grove but we didn't make it very far. Maya had been sick and we weren't sure how she'd do up the canyon. Sure enough, she wasn't very happy. We walked just long enough for Brett and Afton to find a snake and then we turned around.

We jumped in the car and decided to stop at a park in American Fork. Afton calls it the 'log' park and she and Brett had fun while I sat in the car with a sleeping baby

I love these pics of my handsome hubby!

For Father's Day Afton wanted some one on one time with Brett so they went to the movies. They saw How To Train Your Dragon 2 and loved it!

Afton chose donuts for his treat and painted him a picture!
Happy Father's Day Brett!!!

Early flowers and the kiddos

Brett really loves this yard and he should. He's put so much time and energy into every little plant, flower, bush and tree. This space/hobby has brought him a lot of peace over the years and I'd rather have him spend time gardening than doing just about anything else. Afton loves working with him and Maya loves it outside too!!

We don't have many spring flowers but right about now (beginning of June) we start to see some color.

Before we had kids Brett and I knew the names of every flower, ground cover, bush and we knew when it bloomed, what it would look like, where we got it, etc. Now I know when my kids are hungry, need to sleep or are feeling overwhelmed. It's funny how that changed. Brett can still give a good yard tour but I've given up! I'll just enjoy!

Poor baby girl has been sick for 2 weeks. She started out stuffy with a little cough, fever and I took her in for her 6 month well child only to find out she had an ear (right) infection. The nurse administered shots and sent me off with a prescription for an antibiotic. Halfway into her antibiotics I thought she was feeling better and took her swimming. The next day she woke up with a barking cough, runny nose and was even more clingy than before. It is so sad having a sick child but it's a good reminder to be grateful that she isn't really sick. This will go away, she will be okay. But still, her sad eyes, cough and runny nose make me sad!

Thank goodness she still has some smiles!

She's also found her toes recently which has given her plenty of entertainment!

She also loves daddy's hat. Whether it's his sun hat or baseball cap, she loves it!

Blake and Afton hiding in their jungle cabin!

Afton wanted to plant something of her own so Brett took her to the nursery and she chose these pretty pink flowers!
