Watrous reunion

There were so many activities at Grandma Sandy's this week. This particular one was made up of tiny toys frozen in ice. Each child had their own and chipped away with whatever they could find. Rocks, sticks, etc.


Afton and Lydia teamed up which went really well until Afton's finger got smashed! She was sad for a minute and then realized the ice was broken and had fun checking out the toys!

Clara and Lydia came to spend the night and Afton was SO EXCITED!!!
When they arrived it was kind of late so they curled up on the couch and watched half of Brave. Once they slept, they slept soundly and woke up before Brett's alarm had even gone off for work. WE are NOT an early bird house. Poor Lindsay who was staying here with baby Quincey was up by  5:30 - 6:00 every day. I couldn't do it.

Anyway, breakfast was cold cereal around 7:30 -

and Afton was more than happy to keep baby Quincey content!! Afton was soooo excited to have her staying with us for a couple of nights.

After breakfast we hit the trail. The girls had fun running around together and had made friendship anklets they were happy to be wearing.




Back at home we gave Clara her birthday present (July 6, same as mine) which happened to be nail polish so she and Afton went to work painting nails. Well, Clara went to work. Afton just reaped the benefits!

In between coats of paint the girls were coloring and eating peas they'd gathered in the garden!




One night at Grandma Sandy's the kids did shadow puppet plays. I loved watching their creativity and goofiness. Afton kept picking the horse... no surprise there!

One day we were able to meet Tim and his boys as well as Grandpa at the indoor pool. Grandpa was nice enough to take Afton around with him while I sat out!

Girl's Camp

Once again I went to Girl's Camp but wasn't able to stay the whole time! I was able to go up Tuesday night and Thursday night. Brett was able and willing to come home early those days and I caught a ride with Crystal one night and the Seale's the other. (It was nice not having to drive myself)

The first night it had rained and rained and I didn't even take my camera out of the car! The girls were freezing, muddy and extremely happy.

Thursday night between dinner, a skit, testimony mtg. and smores I did manage to take a few pictures.

Every girl and leader brought up 22 of the same beads, something that represented them and we all made bracelets. Well I didn't. I got up there just after they finished but they were kind enough to make one for me.
Emily ran over as soon as I got there. She gave me my bracelet and told me which bead belonged to who. I was impressed she'd remembered them all.
Mine was the turquoise rectangle bead.

This was actually the first day. It dropped down to about 54 degrees and boy were we glad for our hoodies! Jess also made everyone a pink headband with their initial. So cute!

Last year - girl's camp 2012

4th of July

This year for the 4th of July we went to Russ and Krista's. We had a BBQ, watched the kids run around and of course enjoyed a firework show. We usually go to Tiff's or Karen's so we were all kind of surprised to see the amount of fireworks going off in all directions in the neighborhood. I mean big ones. We just sat in the front yard and watched.

Afton had fun with a sparkler until it sparked her finger and then she was content to just sit and watch.

I asked Tiff to take a family photo while we were waiting for dinner. They turned out really cute.

Woodland

Rich, Karen, Judd and Tiff decided to camp at Woodland for the weekend so Brett and I drove up Saturday afternoon to swim, have dinner and just hang out.

Afton loves Avery so much and wants to hold her hand and 'help' her do things.


Tiff and Karen had already noticed a Rabbit convention going on and took us over to see what it was all about. I have never seen so many rabbits in one room. There were tiny rabbits, huge rabbits, rabbits with tiny ears, rabbits with long floppy ears. They were different colors and adorable and Afton LOVED them!

We met this fun lady called the 'Rabbit Lady'. Her hat said it, her belt buckle said it, her jewelry was all rabbits and she was ADORABLE!! She showed us some bunnies and let the girls pet this soft, fuzzy long eared bunny.

As we were leaving we saw this sitting on a table. This bunny was so fluffy it had to be brushed and blow dried to get the loose hair out.



After that we headed to the pool where Brett and Afton splashed, dove, swam, played and just had so much fun.
