Birthday crown

A lot of the time I can find Afton playing somewhere in the house by herself. Usually in the living room or kitchen. She loves playing on our tall kitchen chairs because they are the perfect height for her to reach her toys! Our chairs are usually covered with ponies, frogs, dinosaurs, cups of water, you name it.

This picture was taken after preschool and they had celebrated her birthday. She got this adorable crown (thanks Kira) and didn't even consider taking it off!

Almost 3

Afton is almost 3 and I am loving every minute I get with her.

She is kind and funny and energetic and makes me laugh. I always tell her she cracks me up and she'll say: No mom, you crack me up!

She is used to having her picture taken but has become more aware that she is posing and more interested in what the picture looks like. I'll take one picture and she'll run over to see, then she'll go back and pose for another and it goes on and on and on.

Sometimes she'll just make silly faces so she can see herself and giggle.

She got these new boots as an early birthday present and wants to wear them everyday with everything! Why not?

Labor Day Hike

Today my Dad and I took Afton up American Fork Canyon. It turned out to be a bit of a mistake because it was unbelievably crowded. We knew it would be busy but this was worse than expected. We drove further than we'd planned and eventually parked in a campground. We found a trail that would work and headed out.

Afton is such a great little hiker. The trail was steep and even though she wanted to hold my hand sometimes she really did a great job. I only picked her up a couple of times.

We stopped for a snack and Afton and Grandpa were having so much fun!

Water Park with Tanner

Afton loves the water and this park in Riverton is just her style. She can run around in her swimsuit and get wet when she chooses. She can control some of the water spouts and loves soaking up the sun while having a snack in the grass.

Our friends Michelle and Tanner met us today and it sure was fun.

Love it

There's just something about this picture that I love. I love the light, I love Afton's ponytail, and I just want to snatch her up and smother her with kisses. She's getting so big.

Fun with Harvey

These two are such cuties and they love hanging out.

Tiff and I took the kids to the Children's Garden at Thanksgiving Point. We wandered around for a while before letting the kids play in the water at the Noah's Ark statue. They had so much fun, soggy diapers and all.

I love watching how they take care of each other. They took turns helping each other climb onto that big rock (which had a sign that said no climbing) and I hope they keep looking out for each other as they get older!

Baby bird

I can't believe how many birds nests we've had in our trees this year.
It's so much fun to watch the nest come together and you can't help but pay attention to the momma bird coming and going.
The sound of the babies draws you in and most of the nests were low enough that we could actually peek in.

This particular nest was a little higher and the tree less stable. One day Brett and Afton were outside and all three babies fell out of the nest. Brett carefully tried to get them back in (which he did) but we eventually found one dead in the sandbox.

Little visitor

Afton was in heaven when this little frog came to visit. She and Brett made him a little home and took turns holding him. He was so tiny and cute but didn't stay very long before hopping away!

Afton was fascinated but nervous and her little hand pulled back a few times as Daddy tried to put the frog in her little hands.

Bear Bank

A couple of days ago as I was looking through the paper, Afton saw an ad she couldn't resist. She snatched it up, brought it right to me and was ready to walk out the door.

The ad of course was for Princess Celestia. She loves My Little Pony stuff and has wanted Princess Celestia for some time now.

I told her I didn't have enough money to buy it but maybe she could talk to Dad when he got home from work.

Well, Brett walked in the door and Afton walked over to him with the ad in one hand and her Bear Bank in the other. It melted my heart. She held both up to Brett and said, Daddy look, it's Princess Celestia and here's my money. Let's go.

Afton is getting so big. I feel like I am paying close attention to her every move yet she grows when I'm not looking. She learns quickly and seems to know something new every day.

I love that she understands the money she puts in her bank will buy her the things she wants and can also understand that sometimes I can't (won't) buy her something because it's too much money.

Yesterday Afton and I went into the gas station and Afton had some change in her pocket so she could buy a sucker! I loved it!

My little sweetheart is growing up and she is more fun than ever!

Every day life

This about sums up what most days are like with this little cutie .

Afton's barrette is falling out, her headband is a visor and the ones on her tummy take on a whole new purpose. She is stacking toilet paper on the stairs and cuter than ever.

I am so glad she'll entertain herself and has a good imagination. She could play with toilet paper for a long time. She also uses those headbands for everything but holding her hair back!

(Darn grainy photo)
